More dubbing of opera singers

Well, Julian Ovenden’s recording session for Bet on Love went well. We thought we would need 2 days to dub all of his music but as he was dubbing himself, he rather unsurprisingly found it pretty straightforward to match his singing with his own mouth movements! We just have the soprano Sally Matthews left to record for the film this weekend. I was at college with Sally years ago and she was an outstanding opera singer even then. She is currently singing the role of Fiordiligi at Covent Garden to rave reviews so it should be a fun weekend of work and catching up.

I have to take Arthur into Kings for further hearing assessments this week and couldn’t resist posting this photo of him following in his parents footsteps – just listening to an edit perhaps? More »

Up in the air

We went to see Up in the Air at the cinema yesterday. I really enjoyed it and it was great to have a night out. Personally I am not a popcorn girl at the the pictures, for me its Revels every time. The  highs and lows you experience whilst eating a packet of Revels in the dark can be matched by few films.

Oh joy of joys to find yourself chewing on a malteser but what misery to bite into a wrist-slitting raisin/coffee cream. I still can’t tell the difference between a coffee cream and an orange cream without taking a bite. Hence James’ annoyance at repeatedly getting half eaten sweets.

Tomorrow we have Julian Ovenden in the studio. He is the only actor dubbing himself for the film, Bet on Love as he initially trained as an operatic tenor. More »
