The lady is a Dame

We got back from Italy yesterday and I’m already going through my annual review of how much better our lives would be if we relocated to a ramshackle old farmhouse in the middle of the Italian countryside and grew olive trees. The kids would be running around barefoot and bronzed, everyday would be sunny and magically there would be no need for earning money as we would simply sell our homemade olive oil and swap a goat with a local farmer whenever we craved a steak. I’ve had the same fantasy about Paris, Majorca, New Zealand and pretty well every holiday destination we’ve been lucky enough to enjoy (with the possible exception of Edinburgh – it rained constantly).

To be fair to my overactive imagination, I’m sitting in my kitchen with the rain pouring down outside, a tan I can’t show off as it’s so cold I have my entire winter wardrobe on and the overhead lights flickering; you couldn’t even play cricket with such a lack of daylight despite it being 2 o’clock in the afternoon.

There is a silver-lining. Joe McElderry’s album will stay top 5 this week. Many thanks for all the lovely comments posted from Joe’s fans, so glad you are enjoying it.

We’re straight back into work tomorrow on the film being directed by Dustin Hoffman as it starts shooting next week. Wednesday sees us meeting a singing idol of mine who might be appearing in the film. Can’t say who, but the lady is a Dame…literally.

Haha – our holiday in Italy this year was also on an olive grove which produced olive oil and some rather nice wine :) Such a different way of life.

Sounds like a good holiday was enjoyed by all. It doesn’t always rain in Edinburgh, and when the sun is out, I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. When it’s raining, I could easily imagine living anywhere else! :-)

David’s quote “I usually end up in an estate agent looking at dream cottages/ flats/ shacks/hovels”

My hovel has wheels and we take it everywhere….especially to the dark mysterious badlands of Wales.
I do understand how Juliette feels… we would love to re-locate but we would only get itchy feet (wheels) within a fortnight and off we’d go again.
We did get rather a lot of rain this last week but only at night except for the odd six spots or so in the middle of the day. Makes for good atmospheric photography. :)
