The dog house or an ice-cream?

I’m off to Italy for a holiday on Monday morning first thing and can’t wait. James and Anna are currently in (Wonderful, wonderful) Copenhagen as James is conducting a concert over there. The programme is the American Songbook so I’ve loved listening to him learning his scores – some fantastic original orchestrations (they don’t arrange them like that anymore!).

However,  he was most definitely in the dog house a couple of weeks ago when he checked his contract and realised that his concert was on the Sunday night rather than the Saturday as he had presumed. We need to check in for our flights to Italy on the Monday morning.

ARGH!

He couldn’t get a flight back after his concert as it wouldn’t end until very late, nor could he fly straight to Italy on the Monday as I wouldn’t be allowed to fly alone with 2 babies on my lap, apparently. After a 24 hour panic, he managed to book ridiculously early flights into Gatwick on Monday morning. Anna will be exhausted but problem solved. However,  I can’t say I’m looking forward to getting all our luggage and 16 month old twins to Gatwick on my own. The dilemma is, if I decide to leave him in the dog house, who is going to go and fetch me ice creams on the beach?

It seems to me that you have been wonderfully humorous about the travel hiccups!

Hope you all have a great time in La Bella Italia with much goodies inclding the famous ice creams – look out for the chestnut creamy ices, they are amazing.

I really hope you all have a lovely holiday, and get away to Italy as planned, despite the offers of ‘help’ from David and Lee! Enjoy your ice creams, no matter who has to carry them!
